Agency and Code Approvals for "Lucite" Acrylic Sheet
ICBO®- International Congress of Building Officials
Lucite® meets the definition of an "Approved Plastic" in the 1991 Code. It was tested per UBC Standards 42-1 (ASTM E-84) for flame spread and UBC 52-2 (ASTM D-2843) for smoke density. Per UBC 42-1, it is a Class CC-@ material. Details are in ICBO report 1990. Lucite has been tested for weathering per the ICBO skylight standard. Manufacturers must perform required mechanical tests.
BOCA®- Building Officials and Code Administrators
Lucite® meets the specifications of an "Approved Plastic" as outlined in Article 2 and detailed in section 2000.2 of the 1990 Code.
Lucite® has been tested per ASTM D-635, has a flame spread of less than 2.5 inches per minute and is classified as C-2 with respect to burn rate. It has an auto ignition temperature of greater than 650"F per ASTM D-1929 and smoke density less than 75 per ASTM D-2843 and less than 450 per ASTM E-84
SBCCI® - Southern Building Code Congress Internationa
Lucite® meets the specifications of an "Approved Plastic" as outlined in Article 2 of the 1988 code. Lucite® has been tested per ASTM D-635 and has a flame spread of less than 2.5 inches per minute and is classified as CC-2 with respect to burn rate. It has an ignition temperature of greater than 650"F per ASTM D-1929, smoke density less than 75 per ASTM D-2843 and less than 450 ASTM E-84.

Lucite® Clear meets the requirements of Federal Specification L-P 391D for item A, Type 1, Grade C sheet This specification only applies to clear sheet. Color specifications and tolerances are not covered by this specification.
ASTM D 4802
Lucite® meets the requirements of ASTM D-4802 Category C-2, finish1, Type UVA sheet.
FDA
Lucite® Clear (NC010) and Black (BK2025) comply with 21CFR, section 177.1010 for use in food contact applications. White and other colors are not FDA approved.
ANSI Z26.1 - Motor Vehicle Safety Glazing Material
Lucite® meets the requirements of ANSI Z-26.1, which includes Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards 205 and 302 for plastic safety glazing materials for motor vehicles. FMVSS 205 details the locations where plastic safety glazing is allowed in motor vehicles and should be consulted.
ANSI Z -97 - Safety Glazing Material
Lucite® meets the requirements of ANSI Z-97 for plastic safety glazing. Specific building codes may further limit the use of plastic safety glazing and should be consulted prior to use.
UL - Underwriters Laboratories
Lucite® in all colors except White 2447 is listed with Underwriters Laboratories and classified as UL 95HB. The Lucite® listing number is E65769 and a UL "Yellow Card" can be furnished upon request.
