PCTFE (formerly marketed by 3M as Kel-F 81) is a high-performance thermoplastic. The unique balance of mechanical, chemical, and electrical properties of PCTFE are not available in any other engineering plastics. This is a versatile material whose properties may modified over a wide range depending on fabrication conditions.

The high compressive strength and dimensional stability of PCTFE makes it a good structural material. It also has a very low outgassing rate and permeability, making it a good choice for many instrumentation and laboratory applications.
